Director of Business Development - Travel Assistance

Generali Global Assistance USA is looking for a dynamic Director of Business Development for our Travel Assistance business.  In this critical role, you will be responsible for identifying and closing new business in the North American territory as well as developing and executing new strategies for growing the business across the insurance and corporate verticals. Your success in this role will be defined by new customer acquisitions and expansion of our business into relevant markets for Travel Assistance.

The ideal candidate for this role is be experienced in the Assistance Industry and have a record of success as a ‘trusted advisor’ in a consultative sales model. You partner effectively with internal resources from compliance, marketing, and operations to perfect our offerings and have a structured approach to your work. You are based in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. and are able to travel up to 50% to engage with your prospects.  

Education and Experience

  • 4 year degree and substantial, proven experience in B2B sales of travel assistance to insurance companies and corporations   
  • History of achieving demanding quotas through client management and advocacy
  • Proven success in consultative sales with C-level and other executive decision makers
  • Experience selling to Accident & Health insurers, corporations, specialty brokers, and the travel industry and able to bring an established book of relevant relationships in the North American territory

Sales Process Excellence

  • Drives sales results through prospecting and pipeline management
  • Generates new leads through cold calls, building and developing senior level client contacts, and strategic partnerships
  • Closes the business and negotiates pricing and contract terms
  • Complies with internal tracking and reporting requirements (CRM)
  • Ability to effectively conduct financial analysis to determine sales strategies and pricing that maximize profitability
  • Budget management

Client Strategy and Advocacy

  • Proactively challenges the client to think strategically about solutions for their business challenges that result in additional product and services
  • Obtains knowledge of competitors’ services/products and counters with enhanced products, processes or expert advice

Sales Tools

  • Experience and diligence using a CRM (Dynamics, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Able to maintain a high degree of organization and structure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to manage sensitive and critical client information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Superior closing skill
