Sr. Network Administrator

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, or a similar field of study is preferred;
  • Recent certifications in VMWare, Vsphere, networking and Microsoft technologies;
  • A minimum of seven years of work experience in the IT field required with experience managing a small IT team preferred;
  • Extensive hands-on application and troubleshooting support experience working with VMWare, vSphere, VMWare Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Hyper-V, Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange 2010 and later & Sharepoint 2013;
  • Experience with ITIL, COBIT and PCI-DSS;
  • Experience with Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, NTP, WSUS platform;
  • Experience with network and PC operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, Windows server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012; Windows and SQL Server Failover Cluster Services.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of VMWare, vSphere, and VMWare View virtual desktop platform;
  • Strong network hardware knowledge base using Cisco and Brocade switches and Sonicwall routers, protocols, Link aggregation, port groups and vLans;
  • SAN appliances management, DELL, HP, EMC, Nimble;
  • Scripting knowledge not limited to batch and power shell;
  • Ability to effectively setup and manage data centers;
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws are helpful;
  • Strong understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives are a plus.

 

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned) 

 

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of end-user workstations and server hardware, software, and peripheral devices;
  • Oversee installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of all switches routers and firewalls in the organization.
  • Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services;
  • Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.

 

Strategy & Planning

  • Perform network design and capacity planning;
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery;
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure and security measures;
  • Design, implement and maintain maintenance plan for all systems on the network;
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs;
  • Research and maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of VMWare, vSphere and VMWare View virtual desktop, Microsoft Hyper-V platform and provide knowledge and training to team.

Systems Management

  • Manage, troubleshoot and remedy networking switching and firewall issues.
  • Manage, troubleshoot and remedy server issues including and not limited to file, print, active directory, DHCP, DNS, WSUS and exchange servers.
  • Manage, troubleshoot and remedy exchange and other services in Office 365
  • Manage, troubleshoot and remedy escalated systems and help desk issues;
  • Manage, create and remove desktop pools, update and maintain desktop base images, manage view persona, roaming profiles, file servers and active directory to ensure VMWare view is operational;
  • Configure and manage Windows, SQL Server, Network nodes, Active Directory and other services;
  • Ensure servers, services and their associated operating systems and software are managed and maintain properly;
  • Ensure management and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange in a data availability and load balancing groups;
  • Ensure management and maintenance of SharePoint;
  • Ensure completion of daily operational checklists and take necessary steps to prevent issues;
  • Implement and maintain comprehensive system and service monitoring using automated tools;
  • Manage security solutions, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems;
  • Manage all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches, hubs, and UPS;
  • Ensure network connectivity of all workstations via wired and wireless network;
  • Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades and manage patches for all desktops servers and other devices on the network;
  • Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information;
  • Administer, audit, and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights;
  • Perform server and security audits; system backups; recovery and recovery tests;
  • Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports;
  • Evaluate, validate, and test changes before putting into production.
