Sr. Project Manager

This position is responsible for planning and directing a portfolio of projects that support the annual strategic plan for CSA Travel Protection.   This role requires analysis of complex business problems to be solved through automated systems and process improvement.   The position is assigned to new business process and business process improvement projects that align with business/functional goals and strategies.  This position is based in our San Diego location.


  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science or a similar degree preferred;
  • Eight years work experience in a project management or related capacity, including all aspects of process development and execution preferred;
  • Certification in a project management preferred;
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies and programming languages;
  • Technically competent with various software programs including: Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook)
  • WorkFront and Jira experience preferred.

KEY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

Project Management

  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with internal clients and stakeholders;
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, internal clients and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion;
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis;
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders;
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools;
  • Track project milestones and deliverables; Project Risks, Issues, Decision, and Action Items.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas;
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle;
  • Conduct project post mortems and create recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements;
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

Technical and Business Acumen

  • Estimate the resources, financial and non-financial, and participants needed to achieve project goals;
  • Learn and develop understanding of the business including strategy and applicability to projects;
  • Apply practical business knowledge to ensure project implementation is aligned with business needs;
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) providing support and thought partnership with business.

Supervision, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Direct and manage project from beginning to end;
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents;
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel;
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team;
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path;
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations;
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans;
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work;
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.

Product and Contract Implementation

  • Drives, manages, and coordinates all aspects of a product lifecycle, including long and short term development;
  • Organizes and conducts weekly product development meetings to ensure product requests are developed accordingly;
  • Organize and lead weekly product implementation meetings and SCRUM sessions;
  • Stays abreast of trends in the marketplace to ensure the product’s competitive position;
  • Oversee technical integration between partner systems and internal distribution systems;
  • Interfaces with product drivers and clients to determine the product’s future direction; 
  • Accountable for product life cycle management from product design to installation and distribution.
